The registration fee of 15 should be paid by Paypal, after completing the online Registration Form. This is a once only payment enabling you to make repeated applications for long-term au pairs or summer holiday au pairs. You will receive receipt of your application by email.

2. Before making a placement we normally telephone you to discuss the girls we have available whom we consider would be happy to come to your family. (Some girls are quite specific about the age group of the children in the family and the location. Some families are equally specific in their requirements). We subsequently send you the au pair’s details, references, CV and photographs.

Most families like to phone or email the au pair and speak to her before confirming their acceptance with the agency. As soon as the agency has your acceptance (verbal or written) all your details will be forwarded to the au pair and she will be told to get in contact with you before making her travel arrangements.

3. You will be expected to agree directly with the au pair the date of her arrival in England, and to meet her at your regional station, port or airport, or to arrange to send a car to meet her.

4. We shall invoice you for the placement which must be settled by return. In the event of the au pair being unsuitable or having to cancel at the last minute we shall either offer you a replacement or refund your placement fee . Should any personality clash arise or should you not feel happy to keep the au pair, you are required to give her at least two week’s notice so that she has time to organise her return travel or find an alternative placement.

5. Placement charges are as follows:

Summer holiday .....................................................50

Short term (5-6 months )..............................…...........65

Long term (academic year – Sept-June)..........................95

Statutory Requirements

1. She must have her own bedroom.

2. Home Office regulations stipulate that she should be expected to work for 25 hours per week and do two evenings per week baby-sitting. For this she should receive a minimum of 60 per week. In London the minimum is currently 75 per week. Should you require her to take on extra duties or extra hours you must discuss it with her and offer her extra money or compensate in some way. If you are not sure how much you should pay for what you require from her, please telephone Carole at the main office ( 01249 812551).

3. She should have 2 free days a week; or one day and 2 half days. These days do not have to be at the weekend but occasionally she may ask for a weekend completely free so that she can arrange to go away to visit friends.

Normally the au pair will return home to her family for a week covering the Christmas period.

Please note that these guidelines are according to Home Office regulations. As in all relationships there will need to be a certain amount of ‘give and take’. The most important thing is that the girl is made to feel really part of your family and is not exploited or used as cheap labour.

You can be assured that every reasonable measure has been taken to ensure the suitability and integrity of the au pair placed with you. However, Genevieve Browne Au Pairs does not accept liability of any kind which may result from professional negligence or dishonesty.

We are able to supply male au pairs if preferred.
